In this video, I will explore one of the overlooked reasons behind the toxic culture online: the massive influence of kids and teens. From cancel culture to trolling, I'll explain how the overrepresentation of young, immature voices contributes to negativity and chaos on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter (X). We will talk about the role of hyperindividualism and the teen experience, which often leads to unfiltered, unhinged behavior online. I will also discuss the dangers of adults and kids interacting on these platforms and how it causes kids to grow up too fast, miss out on their childhood, and compare themselves to adult creators, influencers, and celebrities. We all know algorithms definitely play a role, but still, my argument is that the sheer presence and influence of young people is also a key factor that impacts the behavior of adults online, leading to a cycle of negativity.
